Before Southwark Playhouse reopens for in-person performances next month, the theatre will continue to be home to livestreamed premieres. Philip Ridley's new play Tarantula is the latest play to get a virtual run, with performances broadcast live from Southwark Playhouse on 30 April and 1 May.

Set in East London, Toni is a teenager who has her first kiss. Someone is watching her though, and they're going to change Toni's life forever.

Georgie Henley will play Toni, best known for playing Lucy Pevensie in The Chronicles of Narnia films. Her theatre credits include Angry at Southwark Playhouse, opposite Tyrone Huntley.

Philip Ridley's previous plays include The Poltergeist, which was streamed at Southwark Playhouse in 2020. Wiebke Green directs the online production.

Southwark Playhouse will open in May with You Are Here, starring Wendi Peters and Rebecca Lock. Performances begin from 17 May, the day that theatres can open according to the Coronavirus roadmap
