Girl band joining Carrie Hope Fletcher in Heathers the Musical announced

The Other Palace has announced the band joining Carrie Hope Fletcher in the upcoming production of Heathers the Musical.

Heathers is about a group of high school girls: Veronica, and her three friends each named Heather, but despite being the most popular girls in school, but Veronica decides she's had enough of the Heathers and wants to return to her old, geeky friends.

Fletcher, whose previous theatre credits include Les Miserables, The Addams Family, and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, will play Veronica. Fletcher is also a best-selling novelist and has over half a million subscribers on her YouTube channel.

She will be joined at The Other Palace by five musicians forming a girl band to perform Laurence O'Keefe's score, under the direction of Simona Budd. The band includes: Becky Brass (Our Ladies of Perpetual Succour) on drums; Robyn Brown on bass; Roseanne Duckworth (Wicked) on trumpet; Emily Linden (Our Ladies of Perpetual Soccour) on guitar; and Katie Punter (La Cage Aux Follies) on reeds.

Following the announcement, Fletcher said: "I am beyond thrilled to get to sing each night alongside such a fierce group of musicians and love the fact that this will be the first ever all-female band at The Other Palace.

"Look out Westerberg High; this girl band is going to bring the house down this summer."

The musical is an adaptation of the cult 80s film starring Christian Slater and Winona Ryder, and played off-Broadway in 2014. It received a number of workshop performances at The Other Palace last year, leading to this production which will be directed by Andy Fickman.

Heathers the Musical is at The Other Palace from 9th June to 4th August.
