Globe announces initial casting for 'Wonder' Season

Initial casting has been announced for The Shakespeare's Globe 2016 'Wonder' season, which will mark Emma Rice's first season as Artistic Director of the Southbank venue.

Meow Meow will star as the fairy queen Titania in Rice's new production of the comedy A Midsummer Night's Dream which features designs by Börkur Jónsson.

She will be joined by Katy Owen, Ankur Bahl, Ewan Wardrop, Ncuti Gatwa, Nandi Bhebhe, Edmund Derrington, Anjana Vasan and Lucy Thackeray.

"When four lovers, a host of fairies and the mischievous Puck take to the woods, magic, comedy and confusion ensue in equal measure". Shakespeare's classic play runs from 30 April to 11 September 2016, with an official opening on 5 May 2016.

Tara Fitzgerald and Ray Fearon will star in the lead roles in a new production of Macbeth directed by Iqbal Khan will run from 18 June to 1 October 2016, with an official opening on 23 June 2016.

Tara Fitzgerald's recent stage credits including 'The Winter's Tale' (RSC), 'Broken Glass' (Vaudeville), 'The Misanthrope' (Comedy Theatre) and 'A Doll's House' (Donmar Warehouse).

Ray Fearon's recent stage career has included 'Hecuba', 'Pericles', 'Othello', 'Romeo and Juliet', 'The White Devil', 'Troilus and Cressida', 'Moby Dick' and 'The Merchant of Venice' all for the RSC. He is known for his long-running role as mechanic Nathan Harding in ITV's Coronation Street.

Tickets for all productions in the 'Wonder' Season are now on sale.
