The Chichester production of Goodnight Mister Tom, adapted by David Wood, from the classic novel by Michelle Magorian, will return to the West End following a run at the Phoenix Theatre in 2012/13. It will open at the Duke of York's Theatre on 17 December 2015, following previews from 11 December - running to 20 February 2016.
Directed by Angus Jackson, with cast including David Troughton as Tom Oakley. The production is produced by Fiery Angel, The Ambassador Theatre Group, Fiery Dragons and The Children's Touring Partnership.
Set during the dangerous build up to the Second World War, Goodnight Mister Tom follows young William Beech, who is evacuated to the idyllic English countryside and forges a remarkable and heart-warming friendship with the elderly recluse, Tom Oakley. All is perfect until William is suddenly summoned by his mother back to London.
Goodnight Mister Tom was published in 1981 and has been translated into 11 languages. Author Michelle Magorian was inspired to write it after hearing her mother's tales about her time as a nurse in the war.
