Hamlet starring Andrew Scott transfers to the West End's Harold Pinter Theatre

The Almeida's sold out production heads to the West End

It has been announced that the Almeida Theatre's current production of Hamlet by William Shakespeare starring Andrew Scott will transfer to the West End's Harold Pinter Theatre for a limited run from 9 June to 2 September 2017 with an official opening on 15 June.

The production is currently running at their north London venue to 8 April 2017, following an official opening on 28 February 2017. It was met with mixed reviews but with many praising Scott's performance as the Danish Prince.

Andrew Scott is joined in the company of Hamlet by Marty Cruickshank (Player Queen), Jessica Brown Findlay (Ophelia), Calum Finlay (Rosencrantz), Joshua Higgott (Horatio), Daniel Rabin (Reynaldo), David Rintoul (Ghost/Player King), Juliet Stevenson (Gertrude), Luke Thompson (Laertes), Peter Wight (Polonius), Angus Wright (Claudius) and Matthew Wynn (Bernardo/Player 3/Priest) with further casting to be announced.

This new production is directed by Robert Icke and features design by Hildegard Bechtler, lighting by Natasha Chivers, sound by Tom Gibbons, and video design by Tal Yarden.

Andrew Scott most recently appeared in The Dazzle at Found111. His other theatre credits include Olivier Award-winning performances in Cock and A Girl in a Car with a Man, as well as Birdland, Dying City, Crave and Playing The Victim at the Royal Court; Sea Wall, Emperor and Galilean and Aristocrats at the National Theatre; Design for Living and Dublin Carol at the Old Vic; and The Vertical Hour on Broadway.

Almeida Associate Director Robert Icke has adapted and directed Mary Stuart, Uncle Vanya, Oresteia and 1984 at the Almeida.

Hamlet Tickets at the Harold Pinter Theatre are now on sale.
