"HOME AND BEAUTY" OPENS AT LYRIC IN OCT 02

Somerset Maugham's Home and Beauty will open at the Lyric Theatre 29 Oct 02, following previews from 15 Oct 02, and booking to 1 Mar 03. (Booking is now Open!). This play replaces Maugham's other comedy "The Constant Wife" which is currently playing at the Lyric.

The play features Jamie Theakston, Victoria Hamilton, Alexander Armstrong.

Jamie Theakston was a member of the National Youth Theatre in 1984. He is best known as a TV presenter on "Live & Kicking" on BBC 1, "Top of The Pops" on BBC1, "The Priory" on Channel 4. He made his West End debut in "Art" at the Whitehall Theatre in March this year.

Victoria Hamilton's theatre credits include "As You Like It" for which she won the 2000 Critics Circle Award for Best Actress, "Summerfolk" at the National Theatre, and "The Doctor's Dilemma" at The Almeida. Her last West End appearance was in "The Day in the Death of Joe Egg" at both the New Ambassdors & Comedy Theatres in 2001/02.

Alexander Armstrong is half of the comedy duo "Armstrong and Miller" who appeared in their own television show on Channel 4 called "The Armstrong and Miller Show" in 1997. Other TV credits include 'Nick' in the BBC show "Beast".

The play, directed by Chris Luscombe, concerns Major William Cardew, who is reportedly killed in the First World War. His wife then becomes romantically involved with his best friend and marries him. However, Cardew returns!!
