Idina Menzel, star of the original Broadway production of Wicked will recreate her role making her West End debut as 'Elphaba' at Apollo Victoria Theatre opening 27 Sep 2006, following previews from 7 Sept 2006 - booking to 24 Feb 2007.
Idina Menzel, who won the 2004 Tony Award for 'Best Performance by a Leading Actress in a Musical' for "Wicked", will perform the role until the New Year.
Idina Menzel has a diverse career on stage, in films and in music. Her theatre credits include Rent at the Nederlander Theatre; the Manhattan Theater Club’s Off-Broadway original musical The Wild Party; the role of Dorothy in Summer of 42 at Goodspeed, and starred as Amneris in Broadway's Aida. Her film credits include Ask The Dust, Summer of Sam, Just a Kiss, Kissing Jessica Stein, Tollbooth and Water. Idina writes and performs her own music. Her CD of original music, Here, was independently released on her Zel Records label and produced by Jamey Jaz for Opopp Entertainment.
