Jamie Parker joins Juliet Stevenson in The Doctor full West End cast

Jamie Parker is among the new cast members joining Juliet Stevenson in the West End at the Duke of York's Theatre for the transfer of Robert Icke's The Doctor form the Almeida Theatre.

Parker will join Stevenson who stars as the central character in the play, Professor Wolff who finds herself at the centre of a medical ethics row when she denies an individual access to a young girl's bedside. Earlier today, Stevenson won the Critics' Circle Award for best actress for her appearance in the play.

Harry Potter star returns to the West End

Jamie Parker will be returning to the West End for the first time since starring in John Tiffany's production of Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, the eighth installment in JK Rowling's wizarding world which premiered as a play by Jack Thorne at the Palace Theatre. Parker won the Olivier Award for best actor for his role, and transferred with the production when it opened on Broadway.

His other West End credits include Guys and Dolls at the Savoy, Assassins at the Menier Chocolate Factory, High Society at the Old Vic, and The History Boys at the National Theatre, on Broadway and on screen.

Following the premiere production at the Almeida, which was awarded five stars by Will Longman for LondonTheatre.co.uk, Mariah Louca, Daniel Rabin, Joy Richardson, Naomi Wirthner and Hannah Ledwidge will all reprise their roles.

Alongside Parker, also joining the company will be Chris Colquhoun, Shelley Conn, Anni Domingo, Liv Hill, and Millicent Wong.

The creative team features designer Hildegard Bechtler, lighting designer Natasha Chivers and sound designer and composer Tom Gibbons.

The Doctor is at the Duke of York's Theatre from 18th April to 18th July.
