Jamie Parker

Jamie Parker was born in Cleveland in 1979 before moving to Darlington with his family at a young age. After graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in 2002, he started his London theatre career playing the original role of Scripps in The History Boys, written by Alan Bennett, alongside James Corden, Dominic Cooper and others. Although the play was an original London stage production at the Royal National Theatre, the role took Parker to Broadway, Sydney, Wellington and Hong Kong playing the piano, singing and acting in the multi-award winning play.  The awards included the Laurence Olivier Award for Best New Play and the Tony Award for Best Play in 2005 and 2006 respectively.

Other notable London theatre performances include his role in the 2008 revival of The Revenger’s Tragedy at The National Theatre and his appearance in Proof at the Menier Chocolate Factory theatre in 2013. He also performed in the acclaimed Assassins at the Menier Chocolate Factory, playing the role of The Balladeer alongside Catherine Tate and Andy Nyman. More recently Parker played the role of Mike Connor in the 2015 revival of High Society at the Old Vic, after which he performed as Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls in 2015 at the Savoy Theatre.

Parker has also established himself as a thespian actor playing in various plays at Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre including A New World: A Life of Thomas Paine in 2009, Henry IV, Part One and Henry IV, Part Two and title role of Henry V in 2012.

Outside of the theatre Parker has acted in various television shows including in his History Boys co-star, James Corden’s comedy series Horne and Corden, in  ITV’s Endeavour in 2014 and BBC’s Silent Witness (2007, 2014) among others. He has also appeared in Shakespeare Uncovered: Derek Jacobi on Richard II alongside fellow thespian actor Derek Jacobi in 2012. He later acted alongside Kenneth Branagh and Tom Cruise in the historical thriller film Valkyrie (2008).

In 2016 Parker returns to the West End playing the title character in the much revered in Harry Potter and the Cursed Child, Part I and Part II alongside Noma Dumezweni at the Palace Theatre. The show is set to run from June 2016 until December 2017 and has received five star reviews.
