"Journey's End" extends to 19 Feb 2005

R C Sherriff's Journey's End , has been extended by 5 weeks to the 19 Feb 2005 at the Duke of York's Theatre (the show was to have closed on 15 Jan 2005).

The cast currently includes the touring cast Philip Franks (Osborne); Tom Wisdom (Stanhope), Stephen Casey, Roger Walker, Stephen Hudson, Richard Glaves, Simon Shackleton, James Staddon, William Gregory, Christopher Knott, Edward Fulton

The original cast return 4 Jan 2005: Brendan Patricks (Stanhope) , Peter Sandys-clarke ( Raleigh) Malcolm Sinclair (Osborne), Rufus Wright (Hibbert), Paul Brightwell (Mason), Ian Burfield (Trotter), John Elmes (Colonel), Charles Daish (Sargeant Major And Hardy), Ralph Gassmann (German Soldier), Rob Heanley (Bert), Paul Benzing (Broughton).

Before its transfer to both the Playhouse (from 3 May 2004) & Duke of York's Theatre (from 5 Oct 2004), the play opened at the Comedy theatre on 21 Jan 2004 to terrific notices from the popular press: NICHOLAS DE JONGH for THE EVENING STANDARD says, "Still comes at you with such galloping power and poignancy." Produced by Background, the play is directed by David Grindley, designed by Jonathan Fensom, with lighting by Jason Taylor.

Set against the background of life in the trenches during World War One, the play is based on the author's own experience of the Front. It follows a group of officers behind British lines at St Quentin, France, who await their fate on the front line.
