Producers of Max Martin musical & Juliet have announced a singalong performance, where the cast will invite audience members to belt out some of the biggest pop hits of the last two decades during the show.

On 12th May, audience members at the Shaftesbury Theatre will be able to join in with the show and sing songs by the likes of Backstreet Boys, Adele, Jessie J, Katy Perry, Britney Spears Justin Timberlake and more.

The show, which opened in November 2019, follows an alternate conclusion of William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet in which Juliet doesn't take her own life, but instead decides to embark on a trip with her friends to find herself.

It stars Miriam Teak-Lee in the lead role, alongside Cassidy Janson as Anne Hathaway, Oliver Tompsett as William Shakespeare, David Bedella as Lance, Arun Blair-Mangat as May, Jordan Luke Gage as Romeo, Melanie La Barrie as Nurse, and Tim Mahendran as Francois.

Director Luke Sheppard said: "During our first 100 shows at the Shaftesbury Theatre, we've been reminded again and again that audiences love the songs of & Juliet. We wanted to create a special occasion where everyone is welcome to join in and have as much fun singing our songs as the actors do every night - when normally we ask the audience to leave the performing to them.

"A key message of the show is celebrating inclusivity through the magic of theatre, and our hope is that this event continues to open up this show to new audiences as well as those who want to experience the show in a unique way."

& Juliet is booking at the Shaftesbury Theatre, and the singalong performance will take place on 12th May.

& Juliet tickets are available now.
