"KISS ME KATE"CAST CHANGES

Carolee Carmello will take over the role of 'Lilli Vanessi/Katherine' in Kiss Me Kate , at the Victoria Palace Theatre from 3rd to 29th June 02. Then Rachel York will take over the part from 1st July to 24th Aug 02 (Marin Mazzie, who is currently playing the part will leave on 1st June 02).

Carolee Carmello has played 'Kate' on Broadway, and her many other Broadway credits include "City of Angels", "Falsettos", "1776", "Parade" and "Bells Are Ringing".

Rachel York has been playing 'Kate' on the American tour of "Kiss Me Kate", she has starred in many stage roles, including the American productions of "The Scarlet Pimpernel" and "Victor/Victoria".

The rest of the cast remains unchanged to 24th Aug 02: Brent Barrett (Fred Graham/Petruchio), Michael Berresse (Bill Calhoun/Lucentio), Nancy Anderson (Lois Lane/Bianca), Jack Chissick, Nicolas Colicos, Teddy Kemper, Kaye E Brown, Nolan Frederick, Colin Farrell, Vikki Coote, Louise Dearman, Catherine Digges, Rebecca Giacopazzi, Christian Gibson, Lizzie Leigh, Barry McNeill, Jo Napthine, Kimmi Richards, Richard Sidaway, Duncan Smith, Sarah Soetaert, Andrew Spillett, Christopher Stewart, Philip Sutton, Alan Vicary, Nick Winston, Annette Yeo, Ian Caddick and Sam Hall.

The show, which has music & Lyrics by Cole Porter, book by Sam & Bella Spewack, opened at the Victoria Palace theatre on 30th Oct last year, to great notices from the popular press: BENEDICT NIGHTINGALE for THE TIMES says, "Kiss Me, Kate is packed with super songs" CHARLES SPENCER for THE DAILY TELEGRAPH says, "It is a dazzling evening of inventive, infectious pleasure." This musical comedy concerns two gangsters who are despatched to extract a debt from the leading man of a musical version of 'The Taming of the Shrew'. They arrive on its First Night, in the middle of a blazing row between the show's stars and end up on stage singing 'Brush Up Your Shakespeare'.

Kiss Me Kate is currrently taking bookings to 28th Sep 02.
