MAMMA MIA! to transfer to Prince of Wales in 2004

It has been announced that Mamma Mia! will transfer to the Prince of Wales Theatre in the late spring of 2004.

The show will re-open the Prince of Wales Theatre, which is closing next month for refurbishment.

In the meantime the show will continue at the Prince Edward Theatre for a year, up to 27 March 2004

This musical, based on the songs of ABBA, opened in London at the Prince Edward Theatre on 6th April 1999, following previews from 23rd March 99, to rave reviews and smash business. The show continues to break all Box Office records at the Prince Edward Theatre. It has grossed over £80 million and sold over 2 and half million tickets.

The cast currently includes: Alexandra Jay and Samuel Board in the roles of 'Sophie' and 'Sky'. Kim Ismay 'Tanya', Tim Wallers 'Harry', Michael Simkins 'Sam'. Louise Plowright (Donna); Myra McFadyen (Rosie); Rohan Tickell (Bill).

The show has music and lyrics by Benny Andersson and Bjorn Ulvaeus.

This original musical, which is a story of a mother and daughter set on the eve of the daughter's wedding, has a book by Catherine Johnson.

It is designed by Mark Thompson, with lighting design by Howard Harrison, sound design by Andrew Bruce & Bobby Aitken and musical supervision, additional material and arrangements by Martin Koch.

It is choreographed by Anthony Van Laast and directed by Phyllida Lloyd.
