Mason Alexander Park to return to 'Oh, Mary!', as Catherine Tate leaves for personal reasons

Catherine Tate, who has been performing as Mary Todd Lincoln in Cole Escola's hit comedy Oh, Mary! since April, is stepping back from the show for personal reasons.

Mason Alexander Park, who originated the role in the West End, will return to the part for the remainder of Tate's run. Escola will star in the show as planned from 20 July, making their West End debut.

An official statement from the show reads: "Due to personal reasons, Catherine Tate is no longer able to complete her run as Mary Todd Lincoln in Oh, Mary! at the Trafalgar Theatre.

"Mason Alexander Park will return to the role of Mary Todd Lincoln until 18 July. Cole Escola joins the show to play Mary Todd Lincoln from 20 July."

The rest of the cast includes Kate O’Donnell as Mary’s Chaperone, Oliver Stockley as Mary’s Husband’s Assistant, with Dino Fetscher as Mary’s Teacher, and Scott Karim as Mary’s Husband.

Written by Escola and directed by Sam Pinkleton, the full creative team includes dots (Scenic Designer), Holly Pierson (Costume Designer), Cha See (Lighting Designer), Daniel Kluger (Sound Design and Music), Drew Levy (Sound Designer), Leah J. Loukas (Wig Designer), and David Dabbon (Arrangements).

The show follows the frustrated Mary Todd Lincoln in the weeks leading up to the assassination of her husband Abraham.
