Matilda The Musical first five previews cancelled

The first five previews of Matilda The Musical at the Cambridge Theatre have been cancelled.

The production, which was due to start previewing on 18 Oct will now play at the Cambridge Theatre from Tue 25 Oct 2011 and opening night will be held on Thur 24 Nov.

It is reported that the structural work and extensive installation required for the show has taken longer than planned and so the Company has had to take the decision to delay the cast's move from the rehearsal rooms to the stage.

André Ptaszynski, Executive Producer, Matilda The Musical, said:"We are very sorry for the inconvenience caused to people who had booked for these early performances and we are working hard to ensure that the re-booking or refunding process is as quick and as easy as possible."

Written by Roald Dahl. Book by Dennis Kelly, music and lyrics by Tim Minchin, directed by Matthew Warchus, produced by Royal Shakespeare Company ( RSC ) with Andre Ptaszynski as Executive Producer, designed by Rob Howell, sound by Simon Baker, lighting by Hugh Vanstone, choreography by Peter Darling.

Cast includes Bertie Carvel (Miss Trunchbull), Paul Kaye (Mr Wormwood) , Josie Walker (Mrs Wormwood), Lauren Ward (Miss Honey), Marc Antolin, Verity Bentham, Michael Kent, Melanie La Barrie, Matthew Malthouse, Alastair Parker, Nick Searle, Emily Shaw, Peter Howe, Matthew Clark, Leanne Pinder, Rachel Moran, Lucy Thatcher, Tim Walton, Gary Watson.

Matilda - The Musical is a story about a girl with extraordinary powers.
