The Menier Chocolate Factory will reopen later this year. Three shows are confirmed, including Alex Edelman’s comedy show, Just for Us, as well as Jordan Harrison's Marjorie Prime.

The Menier will reopen with the world premiere of Terry Johnson’s The Sex Party. The relationship drama follows four couple in a suburban London home as they discover each other’s intimate pleasures.

Terry Johnson writes and directs The Sex Party, which features set and costume design by Tim Shortall, lighting design by Ben Ormerod, and sound design by John Leonard. The Sex Party begins previews on 4 November, with an opening night on 15 November, and performances to 7 Jan. 2023.

Alex Edelman brings his award-winning show, Just For Us, to the Menier Chocolate Factory in 2023. Edelman’s stand up follows the Jewish comic as he attends a gathering of white nationalists in New York City. Edelman’s Just For Us played numerous extended runs in New York. In a five-star review of Just For Us in New York, our critic said: "All the themes do come together at the end of Just For Us, weaving into a high-level message about the limits of human empathy and our oft-futile desire to change people. It's like a complex jigsaw puzzle, where all the pieces end up fitting perfectly into place."

Adam Brace directs Just For Us, which begins previews on 11 January, ahead of an opening night on 18 January and performances to 26 Feb. 2023.

The season concludes with Jordan Harrison’s Pulitzer-nominated play, Marjorie Prime. Marjorie Prime follows an octogenarian as her technological companion feeds her lifestory to her, with the play exploring what technology can and cannot replace. In a review on New York Theatre Guide, our critic said: "in Marjorie Prime, playwright Jordan Harrison explores the haunting question of what might happen if memory persists with loss removed from the equation. It’s a futuristic trip to a Twilight Zone where no home is complete without lifetime companions who keep the old days alive and compensate for the bothersome realities of death."

Dominic Dromgoole directs Marjorie Prime, which begins previews on 9 March, ahead of an opening night on 15 March and performances to 6 May 2023.

The Menier Chocolate Factory will also co-produce a revival of Pacific Overtures in collaboration with Umeda Arts Theatre. The show will open at Tokyo’s Nissay Theatre, with a UK transfer to be confirmed at a later date.
