Mountaintop transfers to Trafalgar Studios 16 July

The Mountaintop, a play by Katori Hall concerning Martin Luther King, transfers from Fringe Venue Theatre503, to West End's Trafalgar Studios One theatre opening 20 July 2009, following previews from 16 July 2009 - running to 5 Sep 2009.

Directed by James Dacre, the play features David Harewood (Martin Luther King), Lorraine Burroughs (Camae).

April 3 1968 - The night before his assassination Martin Luther King retires to room 306 in the now famous Lorraine Motel in Memphis after giving his legendary 'I have been to the mountaintop' speech to a massive church congregation. When room-service is delivered by a young woman, whose identity we puzzle over, King is forced to confront his past, as well as his legacy to his people.

It is produced in the West End by Sonia Friedman Productions and Jean Doumanian, Tali Pelman for Ambassador Theatre Group, Bob Bartner and Marla Rubin Productions Ltd.

The play had its World premiere at the South London Fringe Venue, Theatre503 12 June 2009, following previews from 9 June and ran to 4 July 2009.
