New cast for West End production of Everybody’s Talking About Jamie announced

A new cast for the West End production of Everybody's Talking About Jamie at the Apollo Theatre has been announced.

Joining the previously announced Layton Williams in the title role of Jamie, a boy who wants to wear a dress to his school prom, and Shane Richie as professional drag artist Hugo/Loco Chanelle will be Hayley Tamaddon, Sabrina Sandhu, and Sejal Keshwala

Hayley Tamaddon takes over from Michelle Visage as Jamie's schoolteacher Miss Hedge. Tamaddon is known for playing Andrea Beckett in Coronation Street and Del Dingle in Emmerdale. Her stage credits include national tours of Chicago and Thoroughly Modern Millie.

Sabrina Sandhu steps into the role of Jamie's best friend Pritti Pasha. Sandhu has previously appeared in If We Were Older at the National Theatre, and I Dare You at Nottingham Playhouse and Leicester Curve.

Sejal Keshwala will play Jamie's mum's friend Ray. Keshwala's previous stage credits include Bend It Like Beckham at the Phoenix Theatre, and Trident Moon at the Finborough Theatre.

They will be joined by new cast members Marlon G Day, (Dad), Momar Diagne, Zahra Jones (Becca), Luke Latchman (Sayid), Rachel Price (swing), Biancha Szynal (swing), Adam Taylor (swing) and Ziggy Tyler Taylor (Levi). The new cast begins on 28th January. 

Cast members continuing in the production include Alex Anstey (Laika Virgin), Luke Baker (Dean Paxton), Courtney Bowman (Fatimah), Marvyn Charles (Swing), James Gillan (Tray Sophisticay), Ryan Hughes (Mickey), Daniel Jacob (Sandra Bollock), Melissa Jacques, Emily Kenwright (Vicki), Jordan Laviniere (Cy) Rebecca McKinnis (Margaret New), and Harriet Payne (Bex).

With music by Dan Gillespie Sells and a book by Tom MacRae, Everybody's Talking About Jamie opened at the Apollo Theatre in November 2017 after it premiered at the Crucible Theatre in Sheffield, where the play is set, in February the same year.

Everybody's Talking About Jamie is booking at the Apollo Theatre until 28th September.
