'Pinocchio' to return for winter 2026 run

Based on Carlo Collodi’s original stories, the musical follows the journey of wooden puppet Pinocchio and his creator — the restless maverick Geppetto.

New musical Pinocchio will return to Shakespeare's Globe for the 2026 festive season, having premiered at the venue in winter 2025.

Based on Carlo Collodi’s original stories, the musical follows the journey of wooden puppet Pinocchio and his creator — the restless maverick Geppetto — as they set out to find family and discover the joy of being human. The show is directed by Associate Artistic Director Sean Holmes, with book and lyrics by Charlie Josephine and music and lyrics by Jim Fortune.

In a review for LondonTheatre.co.uk, our critic said: "For those keen to give their young ones a more authentic fairy tale experience this Christmas, Pinocchio makes a very solid option. There’s always something magical about seeing the Globe illuminated with lights and laughter at this time of year. And when our hero does finally get his wish to become flesh and blood, it’s truly a moment to melt the coldest of hearts."

Holmes said: “I’m thrilled that our production of Pinocchio will live again next year. It’s been a labour of love for so many of us and we are thrilled at how warmly audiences have embraced this new family musical - a musical infused with a joyful communal spirit unique to the Globe."

Casting and dates for the winter 2026 run of Pinocchio are yet to be announced.
