Rylan Clark-Neal to make stage debut as Nativity! the Musical returns to London
TV personality Rylan Clark-Neal is set to appear in the Christmas production of Nativity! the Musical when it returns to London's Eventim Apollo in December.
Rylan, who first appeared on British TV screens in the 2012 series of The X Factor in which he finished 5th, is currently a regular presenter on ITV's flagship daytime show This Morning, and he also presents a Saturday afternoon show on BBC Radio 2.
Nativity! will be Rylan's stage debut as he plays the role of The Critic, previously played by Jo Brand, when the show returns to the Eventim Apollo from 11th to 29th December.
Rylan joins the previously announced Simon Lipkin, who is currently appearing in Ghost Stories at the Lyric Hammersmith, and will reprise his role as Mr Poppy at the Apollo for a third year.
Further casting for the production is to be announced.
The story is set in a school where teacher Mr Maddens and his teaching assistant Mr Poppy produce a musical version of the nativity with their students, promising them it will be turned into a Hollywood movie.
Based on her 2009 film of the same name, Debbie Isitt's production of her own script features music and lyrics by Nicky Ager and Isitt, with choreography by Andrew Wright, designs by David Woodhead, lighting by Tim Mitchell, sound design by Tom Marshall and orchestrations by George Dyer.
Nativity! the Musical is at the Eventim Apollo from 11th to 29th December.
