Susie Blake to star as Madame Morrible in Wicked

Susie Blake is to star as Madame Morrible in WICKED at Apollo Victoria Theatre from Monday 2 April 2007.

Miriam Margolyes will play her final performance as Madame Morrible on Saturday 31 March 2007.

For the past four years, Susie Blake has been playing Beverley Unwin in ITV's soap "Coronation Street". Amongst her numerous other television appearances, Susie is still known for her regular roles in Victoria Wood’s "As Seen On TV" series and various specials. Some of Susie’s recent theatre work includes playing Belinda Blair in Michael Frayn’s "Noises Off", directed by Jeremy Sams, at the National Theatre, on national tour and at the Piccadilly Theatre and the national tour of "High Society", directed by Ian Talbot, playing Mother Lord.

The cast currently includes: Kerry Ellis (Elphaba), Adam Garcia (Fiyero), Nigel Planer (The Wizard), Helen Dallimore (Glinda), Katie Rowley Jones (Nessarose) , James Gillan (Boq), Martin Ball (Doctor Dillamond).

WICKED opened at the Apollo Victoria Theatre 27 Sep 2006, following previews from 7 Sep - to reasonable notices from the popular press: THE EVENING STANDARD says, "Remarkable kaleidoscope of magical shocks, surprises and sensations. Based on the novel by Gregory Maguire, WICKED has music and lyrics by Stephen Schwartz, book by Winnie Holzman.

It is directed by Joe Mantello, scenic design by Eugene Lee, costumes by Susan Hilferty, lighting by Kenneth Posner, sound by Tony Meola, orchestrations by William David Brohn, musical staging by Wayne Cilento and is directed by Joe Mantello.

Two girls meet in the land of Oz. One, born with emerald-green skin, is smart, feisty and misunderstood. The other is beautiful, ambitious and very, very popular. WICKED is the story of these two unlikely friends and how they end up as the Wicked Witch of the West and Glinda the Good Witch.
