TABOO NOW BOOKING TO 1ST MARCH 03

Boy George's musical Taboo has announced a new booking period covering 16th Sep 02 to 1st March 03.

Taboo opened at The Venue, in Leicester Square, in January this year to good notices from the popular press: THE TIMES says, "The casting is impeccable, the bitching is bewitching, and positively no one is underdressed." DAILY TELEGRAPH says, "Taboo is a genuine breakthrough, and, despite its flaws, deserves to succeed........the show has heart as well as attitude....Boy George's music and lyrics are terrific, blessed with melody, wit and a yearning vulnerability." THE DAILY MAIL says, "Enjoyable new musical ... that is also surprisingly conventional."

The cast currently includes: Euan Morton (Boy George), Dianne Pilkington (Kim), Luke Evans (Billy), Mark Little(Leigh Bowery), Paul Baker (Philip Salon), Lyn Paul (Josie) , Marc McGee (Marilyn), Drew Jaymson (Steve Strange), Matt White (Derek), Gail Mckinnon (Fat Sue), Michelle Hooper (Vicky), Declan Bennett, Joe Docherty, Lucy Newton, Lucy Harris and Andy Morton.

From 5th Aug 02 Boy George himself will again take over the role of Leigh Bowery to 7th Sep (except 13 to 15 Aug); and then from 9th Sep 02 to 16th Nov 02 Julian Clary will play the role.

The show has music & lyrics by Boy George and book by Mark Davies-Markham and directed by Christopher Renshaw..

"TABOO" tells the story of the times, with actors playing out the parts of the bill-topping performers who defined a generation, including STEVE STRANGE from VISAGE, the indefinable phenomenon that was LEIGH BOWERY, the one-man extravaganza MARILYN and club entrepreneur extraordinaire PHILIP SALLON. And then of course, there's BOY GEORGE, travelling from squat to superstardom, from rock to rock bottom. The show interweaves some fantastical facts of the 80s with a classic love story of ambition, passion and betrayal.
