'The Father and the Assassin' announce full cast

Kiln Theatre's Artistic Director directs this gripping production about the assassin of one of the world's most well-known political and spiritual leaders.

The National Theatre have announced the full cast for Anupama Chandrasekhar's The Father and the Assassin.

Indhu Rubasingham directs the critically acclaimed play that returns to the Olivier Theatre stage from 8 September to 14 October.

Joining the previously announced cast is, Marc Elliott, Sasha Ghoshal, Aysha Kala, Johndeep More and Aryana Ramkhalawon.

Paul Bazely will reprise this role as Mahatama Gandhi with 2022 Olivier Award-winner Hiran Abeysekera as Natheram Godse.

The Father and the Assassin follows Nathuram Godse's life over 30 years, analysing what led him to murder Mahatma Gandhi in 1948 after being a devout follower for decades.

The cast also includes Azan Ahmed, Ravi Aujla, Ayesha Dharker, Ravin J Ganatra, Raj Ghatak, Halema Hussain, Nadeem Islam, Tony Jayawardena, Nicholas Khan, Raj Khera, Hari Mackinnon, Sid Sagar, and Akshay Shah.

Rubasingham creative team includes set and costume designer Rajha Shakiry, lighting designer Oliver Fenwick, movement director Lucy Cullingford, composer Siddhartha Khosla, sound designer Alexander Caplen, fight director Kate Waters, casting director Alastair Coomer CDG, associate set and costume designer Khadija Raza and staff director John Young.
