The History Boys returns to Wyndham's 20 Dec 2007

Alan Bennett's The History Boys, returns to the Wyndham's Theatre 20 Dec 2007 for a limited run to 26 April 2008.

The cast includes: Desmond Barrit as Hector, the role he played at the National in 2005 and on tour (The role was originated by Richard Griffiths).

The cast also includes Elizabeth Bell, Tim Delap, Daniel Fine, Andrew Hawley, Ryan Hawley, Thomas Howes, Danny Kirrane, Alton Letto, Sam Phillips, Nathan Stewart-Jarrett.

It is directed by Nicholas Hytner, recreated by Paul Miller; designed by Bob Crowley with lighting by Mark Henderson. It is produced by National Theatre and National Angels.

A comic drama about adolescent schoolboys. A group of bright, funny sixth-form boys in pursuit of sex, sport and a place at university. A maverick English teacher at odds with the young and shrewd supply teacher. A headmaster obsessed with results, and a history teacher who thinks he's a fool.

The History Boys had its world premiere at the Lyttelton, NT in May 2004 - running to 26 April 2005, then returning to the Lyttelton, NT 23 Sep to 29 Sep 2005 and 2 Dec 2005 to 1 Feb 2006. The play transferred to Broadway, with the original London cast in April 2006 - running to 1 Oct 2006. The History Boys then had a West End run at the Wyndham's 21 Dec 2006 to 14 April 2007. The play has also had several UK tours.

Among the many awards won by The History Boys are the Laurence Olivier, Evening Standard, Critics' Circle and Tony Awards for Best New Play.
