Following a season at the Wyndham's Theatre in London's West End, it has been announced that The Kite Runner will transfer to the Playhouse Theatre for a limited 8 week season from 8 June to 29 July 2017.

Based on Khaled Hosseini's international best-selling novel this stage production has been adapted by Matthew Spangler. Opening in London following two previous regional runs and a UK tour, the show earned strong reviews including five stars from London Theatre: "It's a charmer as well as heartbreaking". The London production was seen by over 60,000 audience members and received nightly standing ovations.

"A haunting tale of friendship which spans cultures and continents, it follows one man's journey to confront his past and find redemption. Afghanistan is a divided country on the verge of war and two childhood friends are about to be torn apart. It's a beautiful afternoon in Kabul and the skies are full of the excitement and joy of a kite flying tournament. But neither Hassan or Amir can foresee the terrible incident which will shatter their lives forever..."

Producers said of the news: "We were completely overwhelmed by the response from audiences at Wyndham's Theatre. Londoners took this haunting show to their hearts and we are thrilled to be able to return so soon to the West End for a strictly limited summer season."

The Kite Runner is directed by Giles Croft and produced in the West End by Martin Dodd for UK Productions and Derek Nicol & Paul Walden for Flying Entertainment.

Casting for the transfer is yet to be announced.
