The Madness of George III at Nottingham Playhouse to be streamed globally

Alan Bennett's The Madness of George III starring Mark Gatiss will be available to watch online from this evening, as part of the National Theatre at Home initiative. Performed at Nottingham Playhouse in 2018, it marks the first non-London show to be streamed in the series.

At George III's height of power, his mind is beginning to unravel. Behaving erratically, the Queen and Prime Minister must hide his illness, but will the crown be in danger?

First performed in the Lyttelton Theatre at the National Theatre in 1991, The Madness of George III was later adapted for the silver screen, winning a BAFTA for outstanding British film.

Mark Gatiss plays the monarch, joined by Adrian Scarbough as Dr Willis and Debra Gillett as Queen Charlotte. The cast is completed by Nadia Albina, Nicholas Bishop, Amanda Hadingue, Jack Holden, David Hounslow, Stephanie Jacob, Louise Jameson, Andrew Joshi, Adam Karim, Harry Kershaw, Billy Postlethwaite, Sara Powell, Wilf Scolding and Jessica Temple.

All money raised via the stream of The Madness of George IIIwill be shared with Nottingham Playhouse's Curtain Appeal.
