The Night of 1000 Voices 4 May 03

The Night of 1000 Voices will be at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday 4 May 03 at 8pm, hosted by Dame Judi Dench OBE.

This year The Night of 1000 Voices will exclusively celebrate the multi-award-winning productions of Trevor Nunn including LES MISÉRABLES, ASPECTS OF LOVE, CATS, CHESS, MY FAIR LADY, PORGY AND BESS, SUNSET BOULEVARD, ANYTHING GOES, STARLIGHT EXPRESS, SOUTH PACIFIC, THE BAKER'S WIFE, NICHOLAS NICKLEBY and OKLAHOMA!

Stars of London's West End and New York's Broadway and from the world of musical theatre will be performing songs from some of Trevor Nunn's best known shows including Philip Quast singing Stars from LES MISÉRABLES; the original Broadway star of Trevor Nunn's production of CHESS, Judy Kuhn , singing the song she premiered, Someone Else's Story. Lauren Kennedy will sing I'm Jist a Girl Who Cain't Say No. Kelli James will sing Memory. The star of Broadway's SUNSET BOULEVARD, Alan Campbell, will sing the title song. Sally Ann Triplett and her Angels from the Royal National Theatre production of ANYTHING GOES will reprise Blow, Gabriel, Blow accompanied by the 1000 Voices chorus. David Michael Johnson will return for his fourth concert and the star of SHOW BOAT, Kenneth Nichols, will sing Porgy to Broadway's Laurie Williamson's Bess; Alex Jennings, will sing I've Grown Accustomed To Her Face. Aled Jones will sing with Teri Bibb; Leigh Constantine, Tiffany Graves, Alexis Owen Hobbs, Alexandra Jay, Annette McLaughlin and Rebecca Thornhill will present their version of Macavity. London's current Javerre, Michael McCarthy, will sing STARLIGHT EXPRESS and Tommy Korberg, currently in CHESS in Sweden, will specially fly to London to take part. Many surprises are promised and it is rumoured that Judi Dench is warming up her throat, too...

In 2003, The Night of 1000 Voices will again support the Alan Jay Lerner Fund for Cancer Research at The Royal Marsden Hospital and this year's main beneficiary will be the Variety Club Children's Charity. Variety Club has spent over 50 years helping sick, disabled, and disadvantaged children throughout the UK have a better life. Variety's mission is to bring sunshine into the lives of children who are in need.

Love Changes Everything, Bali Hai, One Day More, Do You Hear The People Sing?, Summertime, It Aint Necessarily So, Oh! What A Beautiful Morning and Oklahoma! Will also be performed, together with a sprinkling of songs from Trevor Nunn's past productions which may not be so well known.

David Firman, will once again conduct the massed musical forces and director Hugh Wooldridge says, "This evening is a must for all who love musicals. Come along again and join in the fun. Come and raise the roof of The Royal Albert Hall."
