"The Postman Always Rings Twice" extends 4 weeks to 10 Sep 2005

The West Yorkshire Playhouse production of Andrew Rattenbury's adaptation of James M Cain's The Postman Always Rings Twice has been extended another 4 weeks to 10 Sep 2005.

The play opened at the Playhouse Theatre 8 June 2005, following previews from 24 May 2005, to luke-warm notices from the popular press: NICK CURTIS for THE EVENING STANDARD says, "Powerfully moody piece" ADAM SCOTT for THE INDEPENDENT says, "Sadly this postman doesn't quite deliver." CHARLES SPENCER for THE DAILY TELEGRAPH says, "Charlotte Emmerson is a dream as Cora, but Val Kilmer lacks sexuality as Frank." IAN JOHNS for THE TIMES says, "His [Val Kilmer] stilted performance infects the pace of the production." LYNN GARDNER for THE GUARDIAN "Quite simply he [Val Kilmer] fails to give satisfaction."

The cast includes Val Kilmer, Charlotte Emmerson, Joseph Alessi, Rae Baker, Keith Bartlett, Aran Bell, Mac Macdonald, Ian Pirie, Adam Rayner

It is directed by Lucy Bailey and designed by Bunny Christie.

When Frank drifts into their roadside cafe,Greek immigrant Nick and his wife Cora have no idea of the devastating effect he'll have on their lives. Fark and Cora begin a passionate affair that leads to murder, double-crossing and dubious courtroom deals...
