Urinetown The Musical transfers to the West End

Julian Stoneman Associates and The Araca Group present the West End transfer of Urinetown The Musical, directed by Jamie Lloyd, at the Apollo Theatre from 29 Sep 2014, The production is currently taking bookings to 24 Jan 2015.

Urinetown The Musical enjoyed a successful run at the St James Theatre, a 312-seat Off West End venue in Victoria, from 22 Feb to 3 May 2014. This marked the show's UK premiere, opening to good reviews from the popular press: "a subversive delight " (Londontheatre.co.uk); "darkly entertaining and exceptionally sharp show" (Daily Telegraph); "It's impossible to deny the originality of this crowd-pleaser" (The Evening Standard).

The show features music and lyrics by Mark Hollmann and book and lyrics by Greg Kotis. The creative team include musical supervision & direction by Alan Williams, scenic design by Soutra Gilmour, choreography by Ann Yee, lighting by Adam Silverman and sound design by Terry Jardine and Nick Lidster.

Urinetown The Musical tells the tale of a town fit to burst; spending a penny can prove problematic in a place where the privilege to pee has become a punishable offence. There is no such thing as rent free relief until our young hero, Bobby Strong, appears - with more than a good set of pipes - and starts a revolution!

The musical ran on Broadway from 2001 until 2004 and was nominated for ten Tony Awards, and won for Best Book, Best Score and Best Direction.
