Wicked announces new West End cast to take over from July 2019

A new cast for the West End production of Wicked at the Apollo Victoria is set to take over this summer.

Nikki Bentley will take over the role of Elphaba from Alice Fearn, while Helen Woolf will play Glinda, taking over from Sophie Evans. The new cast will play their first performance on 22nd July.

Both have appeared in the musical before, with Woolf playing Glinda and Bentley as standby Elphaba in the UK and Ireland touring production in 2018.

Madame Morrible will be played by Kim Ismay, who also appeared in the recent UK tour, while Idriss Kargbo will play Boq until 10th November. Simeon Truby will take on the role of Doctor Dillamond.

Lisa-Anne Wood joins the cast as standby Glinda, as Laura Pick continues as standby Elphaba. Natasha Ferguson will be maternity cover for the role of Nessarose.

The new cast joins the previously announced Alistair Brammer who will play Fiyero from July, and the continuing cast member Andy Hockley as the Wizard, and Carina Gillespie who returns to the show as Nessarose after appearing in the 2013 nationwide tour.

The cast will be completed by Chanelle Anthony, Meg Astin, Rebecca Botterill, Michael Colbourne, Lewis Easter, Nolan Edwards, Kerry Enright, Chris George, Rebecca Gilliland, Lucie Horsfall, Nicole Lupino, Maggie Lynne, Stuart Maciver, Carl Man, Rhidian Marc, Joanna Sawyer, Scott Sutcliffe, Genevieve Taylor, Grant Thresh, James Titchener, Libby Watts, Bryony Whitfield, Chad Wilder, Dickie Wood, Chiarina Woodall and Tom Woollaston.  

Composed by Stephen Schwartz, Wicked is based on the characters in L. Frank Baum's The Wonderful Wizard of Oz, and focuses on the witches Elphaba and Glinda with numbers such as "For Good", "Popular" and "Defying Gravity".  

The West End production began its run in 2006 at the Apollo Victoria, where it continues to run and has starred Idina Menzel, Helen Dallimore, Kerry Ellis, Emma Hatton, Rachel Tucker and Willemijn Verkaik during the run.

Wicked is booking at the Apollo Victoria Theatre until 23rd May 2020.
