World Premiere of Foreplay by Carl Djerassi - King's Head

The world premiere of Foreplay, a new play by scientist Carl Djerassi will open at the King's Head Theatre in Islington, North London on 2 May 2014, following previews from 30 April where it will run until 31 May 2014.

Produced and directed by Andy Jordan, Foreplay examines "the chasm between the public and private for people in the public eye, what is erotic and what is pornographic, and the uneasy relationship between genius and hypocrisy in us all."

90 year old Carl Djerassi is an internationally renowned chemist best known for 'the invention' of the contraceptive pill. He has written over 1200 scientific publications and has won the National Medal of Science, the National Medal of Technology along with 32 honorary doctorates from around the world. His plays have been translated into 20 languages and include 'Phallacy' and 'Three On a Couch', both of which originally played at the King's Head Theatre.

Foreplay is directed and produced by Andy Jordan with design by Christopher Hone and sound and music by Simon Slater. Casting is to be announced.
