Jade Ewen was born in January 1988 in Plaistow, London. She received a scholarship to the Sylvia Young Theatre School, during which time she appeared in TV shows, The Bill, Mr. Harvey Lights a Candle and Casualty. She is, however, predominately known as a singer, songwriter best recognised as former band member of The Sugababes. Ewen also released several singles in 2008 and In 2009 she represented the UK in the Eurovision Song Contest 2009 where she sang “It’s My Time”, composed by Andrew Lloyd Webber, which reached number 27 in the UK charts, making it Ewens most successful single.
In 2014 Ewen played the role of Clara in Porgy and Bess performed in the Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, which received 5 star reviews. Jade also appeared in the West End transfer of Broadway’s In the Heights musical as the role of Vanessa. This performance also received very positive reviews, being performed at the Kings Cross Theatre.
In 2015 it was announced that Jade Ewen will play the part of Jasmine at the Prince Edward Theatre’s version of Aladdin. Ewen will perform alongside Dean John-Wilson and Trevor Dion Nicholas. In our recent interview with Ewen, she exclaims; “It's absolutely a dream come true. Anyone you speak to, boys and girls, the second you say I'm playing Princess Jasmine they're all like "no way!!" The show is set to run form 27 May 2016 to 11 February 2017.
