Summer Holiday

It's loosely based on the Cliff Richard film with DARREN DAY taking the leading role of 'Don'. Unfortunately he isn't up to this and is constantly outshone by DARREN J BENNETT who plays 'Steve'. DARREN DAY seems to take himself fair to seriously and while other members of cast seem to be really enjoying themselves, all he seems to want to do is get the show over with.

CLARE BUCKFIELD is brilliant as American pop star 'Barbara Winters' and HILARY O'NEIL is very funny as Barbara's mother from hell.

Other members of the cast who deserve a mention are RENE ZAGGER as the rather stupid 'Cyril' and MARK McGEE as 'Edwin'. The singing trio 'Do Reh Me' are played by MIRANDA RICHARDS, LUCIE FENTUM and JO SHERWOOD. Also I feel a mention must go to RYAN LAIGHT who shows that he should be far more than just a member of the company. Going back to DARREN J BENETT for a moment, he really does show that he should be in the leading role of 'Don', as he has a stronger singing voice than DARREN DAY. Also he can dance and act much better than him. The only disadvantage with this would be that you wouldn't get him singing 'Time Drags By' which he does brilliantly. All in all 'Summer Holiday' is a good night out as along as you don't mind girls screaming and don't expect too much of DARREN DAY.
