Billie Piper was born in Swindon in 1982. She studied at the Sylvia Young Theatre School, and at the age of 15 Piper became the youngest artist to debut at number one in the UK Singles Chart in 1998 for her single “Because We Want To."In 2005, Piper got her acting breakthrough, cast as Rose Tyler in revival of Doctor Who. In 2007, she then starred in Secret Diary of a Call Girl as Hannah Baxter for three seasons.

Her theatre career began in 2007, playing Ann in Treats at the Garrick Theatre. Read a review of Treats starring Billie Piper here. In 2011, she then played Carly in Reasons to be Pretty at the Almeida Theatre, and you can read a review here. But it was her portrayal of Connie in The Effect at the National Theatre that got everybody talking. Following this she played the role of Paige in Great Britain at the National Theatre

Piper returned to the London stage in Yerma at the Young Vic in 2016, receiving numerous five-star reviews. A year later, she reprised the role at the Young Vic.
