After runs in Salford and at the Edinburgh Fringe, Toast, the stage adaptation of TV chef Nigel Slater's autobiography, is set to get its London premiere at The Other Palace next week.

Based on his 2004 memoir, Henry Filloux-Bennett's play follows a nine-year-old Slater at home where cooking takes centre stage. He learns to bake with his mother in the kitchen, but as he starts facing difficult hurdles in life, food becomes the only constant in his life.

Directed by Jonnie Riordan, who says he'd direct the play for the rest of his life if he could, and starring Giles Cooper, the play opens at The Other Palace in London next week.

As the team prepared for the show, we popped into rehearsals to speak to the show's director and lead actor to find out a little more about the play.

Toast is at The Other Palace until 3rd August.
