Accrington Pals P. Whelan / Charles Dickens' Ghost Stories
N1 Theatre Company presents two productions at the Courtyard Studio Theatre, in Islington, north London.
Charles Dickens' Ghost Stories, by David John Preece, directed by June Abbott, 2 to 7 April 2013. Beguiled in early childhood by his nursemaid's grim and ghoulish stories, Charles Dickens harbored all through his life a fascination with ghosts, apparitions and chilling coincidence. The world of the supernatural to which Dickens was introduced became vividly real to him. Throughout his life, Dickens tried to exorcize these dark thoughts by pouring them into his stories...
The Accrington Pals, by Peter Whelan, directed by Yvonne Morley, from 9 to 14 April 2013. The men of Lancashire mill town leave their homes and loved ones to battle for King and Country in the trenches of the Somme. This story is inspired by the real 'pals' and the effect on the women who waited for their return during the First World War.
