Schmigadoon! and Liberation won big at the Tony Awards.

It's the season of Schmiberation. Or should we say, Schmigadoon! and Liberation. Those two hit shows won top honors for Best Musical and Best Play, respectively, at the Tony Awards on 7 June.

Schmigadoon! is adapted from the Apple TV+ series that lovingly spoofs classic musicals, and it's currently set to run on Broadway through 3 January 2027. Liberation, about a 1970s feminist group, wrapped its Broadway run in February, but Londoners can look forward to seeing the show in 2027, the producers teased in May.

Grab a marmalade sandwich for the road, and join Paddington on his adventure across the pond. With all the acclaim Paddington The Musical received here in London, a Broadway transfer was all but inevitable — and it was officially announced for the Al Hirschfeld Theatre starting 30 March 2027. We're sure audiences, and awards voters, will welcome this show with a big bear hug come spring.

Here comes the general — again.

In 2025, original Hamilton cast member Leslie Odom, Jr. returned to the Broadway production in celebration of its 10th anniversary. Now, it's Christopher Jackson's turn, reprising his Tony-nominated performance as George Washington on Broadway from 8 September to 3 January.

Odom is about to return to Hamilton once more, making his West End debut as Aaron Burr from 3 July to 5 September. Will Jackson eventually follow suit?

A new Lin-Manuel Miranda musical is sure to put up an awards fight.

In 2024, Lin-Manuel Miranda and Eisa Davis released Warriors, a concept album adapted from the 1979 movie about a gang escaping from the Bronx to Coney Island when framed for murder. At first, the pair downplayed the possibility of turning the album into a stage show... but theatre fans knew better.

And sure enough, a Warriors musical will officially come to Broadway's Lunt-Fontanne Theatre in spring 2027. Now the fight for tickets begins.

Jasmine Amy Rogers is staying booked and busy.

If you don't know her name yet, you will by the end of this theatre season. Jasmine Amy Rogers became a breakout Broadway star with her Tony-nominated turn as Betty Boop in BOOP! The Musical. The show had a short run, but it was far from the end of Rogers's career.

She's been in demand ever since: After wrapping her current run in The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee off Broadway, Rogers is starring in the Broadway premiere of Jocelyn Bioh's School Girls; Or, The African Mean Girls Play in the fall and tackling The Sound of Music, in the iconic role of Maria, in the spring. Those announcements were made within 48 hours of each other. All that's left to wonder is when she'll make her West End debut.

Coming up: A worldwide Winona Ryder takeover

Here's a fun fact: For a brief period in July, five stage adaptations of Winona Ryder movies and TV shows will be playing at the same time. Despite having yet to make her own Broadway or West End debut, Ryder's influence is looming large in the theatre world with Beetlejuice in London, Girl, Interrupted in New York, Heathers and Stranger Things in both cities, and the Broadway-hopeful Black Swan in Boston, Massachusetts.

We're in a Ryder-ssance. It's an excellent time to be a theatre-loving fan of the iconic screen queen.
