A Fundraising Evening with Alan Bennett for the Roundhouse Thheatre, will take place at the Prince of Wales Theatre on Sunday 15 May 2005.
Alan Bennett will be reading from a selection of his award-winning works . Michael Palin will be the host for the evening
Both Palin and Bennett are Camden residents and this event is being staged to raise funds towards the redevelopment of the Roundhouse in the borough, as it approaches reopening at the end of the year.
Alan Bennett is one of the country's leading lights across the fields of theatre. " With a career spanning 50 years he is now a reluctant celebrity, an iconic figure in British culture with a canny ability to create characters that we can all recognise." His plays performed on the West End stage in recent years include: "The History Boys" currently playing at the Lyttelton,NT; "The Lady in the Van" at the Queens Theatre in 1999; "Kafka's Dick" at the Piccadilly Theatre in 1998; "Talking Heads" at the Comedy Theatre in 1996; "Habeas Corpus" at the Donmar Warehouse in 1996.
