Amy Robbins cast as Mrs Johnstone in Blood Brothers

Amy Robbins has been cast as 'Mrs Johnstone' in Blood Brothers, from 1 Aug 2011 to the end of Jan 2012, at the Phoenix Theatre.

Amy Robbins is best known as 'Dr Jill Weatherill' in 8 series of the ITV drama The Royal. Other TV credits include Dalziel and Pascoe, Casualty and Where the Heart Is. As well as being married to fellow Royal co-star Robert Daws, Amy, who is Merseyside born, is a cousin of Paul McCartney.

The musical is directed by Bob Tomson and Bill Kenwright. The design is by Marty Flood and the musical director is Rod Edwards.

Blood Brothers premiered in the West End in April 1983 at the Lyric Theatre and closed in October 1983. Bill Kenwright picked up the rights to the musical in 1987, and a re-vamped Blood Brothers and was revived at the Albery Theatre, in July 1988, before transferring to the Phoenix Theatre in November 1991, where it is now taking bookings to 24 Nov 2012.

The story concerns a pair of twins from Liverpool who are separated at birth. Later in life their paths cross in friendship and anger.
