Cast for Khandan (Family) at the Royal Court Announced
Casting for Gurpreet Kaur Bhatti's new play Khandan (Family), at the Royal Court Theatre from 11 - 28 June 2014 has been announced.
The production, that is co-produced by Birmingham Repertory Theatre and the Royal Court Theatre will feature performances from Sudha Bhuchar, Neil D’Souza, Preeya Kalidas, Rez Kempton and Zita Sattar.

In the Gill family living room, culture clashes and sibling rivalry gets out of hand. As widowed matriarch Jeeto (Sudha Bhuchar) attempts to withold a strong set of family morals she is challenged as eldest son Pal (Rez Kempton) is failing to take her lead. As he begins to crumble under the weight of his father's legacy, it takes the whole family to ensure they don't lose their last remaining link to their Punjab roots.
Khandan (Family) is written by Gurpreet Kaur Bhatti, whose previous plays for the Birmingham Rep include 'Behsharam (Shamesless)' and 'Behzti (Dishonour)'. It will be directed by Roxana Silbert.
Sudha Buchar's previous theatre credits include 'Zindabad' at the Gate Theatre ad 'Sweet Cider' at the Arcola. Neil D'Souza has appeared in productions of 'Much Ado About Nothing' with the RSC and 'The Man of Mode' at the National Theatre. Preeya Kalidas was last seen in the West End at the Adelphi Theatre where she starred as the Narrator in 'Joseph...' alongside Lee Mead. Zita Sattar has previously appeared at the Royal Court in 'East is East', and Rez Kempton's previous credits include 'Drawing the Line' at the Hampstead Theatre.
Khandan (Family) runs at the Jerwood Theatre Upstairs at the Royal Court Theatre from 11 June - 28 June 2014, following an opening run at the Studio in Birmingham's Repertory Theatre between 22 May and 7 June.
