Disney releases new trailer for live-action The Lion King remake

Disney has released a new trailer for its upcoming remake of the 1994 musical film The Lion King.

The remake, which uses CGI animation and live-action filming techniques, is set to be released in July 2019. It features the voices of Donald Glover, Seth Rogen, Chiwetel Ejiofor, John Oliver, Beyoncé Knowles-Carter, and James Earl Jones.

Featuring songs by Elton John such as "Circle of Life", "I Just Can't Wait to be King", and "Hakuna Matata", the original animated film features the voices of Matthew Broderick, Jeremy Irons and James Earl Jones.

Three years after its release, a stage adaptation of the film premiered on Broadway at the New Amsterdam Theater, before transferring to the Minskoff Theatre where it still runs and is the third longest-running show in Broadway.

The musical opened in the London at the West End's Lyceum Theatre in October 1999, where it still runs after more than 7,500 performances. Notable cast members of the London production include Alexia Khadime, Cornell S John and Pippa Bennett-Warner.

The Lion King is released in cinemas on 19th July 2019, 25 years after the film's original release.

The Lion King continues to run at the Lyceum Theatre in London.
