Donkey Heart - Amanda Root joins cast

Amanda Root has joined the cast of Donkey Heart by Moses Raine, at the Trafalgar Studios 2 Theatre, from 7 to 31 January 2015. The play previously enjoyed a sell-out run in May of this year at the Old Red Lion, a fringe venue in Islington, north London.

Amanda will play the role of Zhenya and will join the already announced Pierre Atri (Kolya), Emily Bruni (Natalia), Lisa Diveney (Sasha), Patrick Godfrey (Alexander), Georgia Henshaw (Clara), Alex Large (Tom), Albie Marber (Kolya), James Musgrave (Petya) and Paul Wyett (Ivan).

The play is directed by Nina Raine, with set design by James Turner, lighting by Peter Mumford and sound by Alex Caplen. Produced by Jessica Campbell, Chris Foxon and Ramin Sabi for DEM Productions in association with Oliver King for Belka Productions.

Synopsis: "Moscow, now. A small flat. One family, three generations, the same hangover. Life after communism is utterly different and yet somehow eerily familiar. Petya's dodging the draft, Sasha's jumping with every ring of the bell, Ivan's brought a mysterious stranger home, and now their guest Thomas is asking questions. Who do you trust? The state may not be spying on you, but can you say the same for your nearest and dearest?"

Amanda Root has previously worked with director Nina Raine in 'Jumpy' at the Royal Court and West End in 2011. The actress is also a Tony Award nominee, for the Old Vic and Broadway seasons of 'The Norman Conquests' in 2009.
