Reeve Carney and Eva Noblezada will star as the Emcee and Sally Bowles in [*Cabaret*](https://www.londontheatre.co.uk/show/23939-cabaret-tickets) at the Kit Kat Club in the West End. They will take over the roles from Rob Madge and Hannah Dodd from 22 September, with their final performance on 24 January, 2026.

Grammy Award winner Carney (*Hadestown*) and double Tony Award nominee and Grammy Award winner Noblezada (*The Great Gatsby, Hadestown, Miss Saigon*) will star alongside Baker Mukasa as Clifford Bradshaw, Olivier Award winner Ruthie Henshall as Fraulein Schneider, Olivier Award nominee Robert Hands as Herr Schultz, and Lucas Koch as Ernst Ludwig. 

Also joining the cast from 22 September are Joe Atkinson, Xavion Campbell-Brown, Olivia-Rose Deer, Anya Ferdinand, Danny Fogarty, Manu Sarswat, Tom Scanlon and Eva-Rose Tanaka.

Continuing in the company are Jessica Kirton as Fraulein Kost/Fritzie, alongside Adrian Grove,  Ela Lisondra, Hícaro Nicolai, Andy Rees, Alexandra Regan, Marina Tavolieri and Lucy Young.

Both Carney and Noblezada are not scheduled to appear from 22 October – 5 November. At these performances, Joe Atkinson will play Emcee and Marina Tavolieri will play Sally Bowles.

The prologue company are Rachel Benson, Ami Benton, Joseph Hardy, James Hastings, Andrew Linnie, Dak Mashava, Nethra Menon, Oluwatosin Omotosho, Jack William Parry, Jazmyn Raikes and Kristin Wei Wong.

## What to Watch For:

- For *Cabaret* in London, the Playhouse Theatre will be renovated into an in-the-round auditorium. Audience members will be able to sit at tables to evoke a club setting, rather than a traditional proscenium arch theatre. As a result, the seating capacity at the Playhouse Theatre has been reduced to accommodate 550 patrons per performance. 

- The *Cabaret* musical was first staged in 1966 featuring Joel Grey as the Emcee. However Cabaret became a popular twentieth-century musical thanks to the 1972 Cabaret movie starring Liza Minnelli as Sally Bowles.

Willkommen. Bienvenue. Welcome to the Kit Kat Club. The Playhouse Theatre is newly transformed, so get ready to step into a theatrical paradise. *Cabaret* tickets are available on London Theatre now.

Set in early 1930s Berlin, American writer Cliff Bradshaw meets English cabaret singer Sally Bowles, a performer at the Kit Kat Club. But the rise of Nazism threatens this hedonistic Weimar Republic haven. 

*Cabaret*’s enduring success is partly down to Kander and Ebb’s indelible score, with songs like “Wilkommen,” “Don’t Tell Mama,” “Meir Herr,” “Money,” and, or course, the great torch song “Maybe This Time.” This production offers an exciting chance to discover, or revisit, Kander and Ebb’s still hugely resonant musical. 

The Cabaret London musical won seven Olivier Awards, with original cast members Eddie Redmayne, Jessie Buckley, Liza Sadovy, and Elliot Levey. The show features luxury casting, as well as a transformed theatre to provide optimum watching for one of the most-known musicals of all time. Rebecca Frecknall directs, with Tom Scutt providing set and costume design, and choreography by Julia Cheng.

The celebrated *Cabaret* musical opened on Broadway in November 1966, directed by Harold Prince, and has been a hit on both stage and screen, with Bob Fosse’s film version, starring Liza Minnelli, winning eight Oscars. 

Dame Judi Dench led the original West End version, and, in 1993, Sam Mendes’s Donmar Warehouse production, starring Jane Horrocks and Alan Cumming, was greatly acclaimed. Cumming returned for the 2014 Broadway revival, which starred first Michelle Williams, then Emma Stone, and finally Sienna Miller. 

### Who wrote the Cabaret musical?

Cabaret is based on Christopher Isherwood’s short stories in Goodbye to Berlin, and John Van Druten’s play, *I Am a Camera*. Harold Prince led the Cabaret musical creation, teaming up with Joe Masteroff, John Kander and Fred Ebb to bring the stories to life. Find out more about Cabaret in London.

At these performances, the role will be played by our alternate Sally Bowles, Anne-Marie Wojna.

__Rob Madge__ is not scheduled to appear on Tuesday 16 September. At these performances, the role of Emcee will be played by Damon Gould.

Both __Reeve Carney__ and __Eva Noblezada__ are not scheduled to appear from Wednesday 22 October – Wednesday 5 November 2025. At these performances Joe Atkinson will play Emcee and Marina Tavolieri will play Sally Bowles. Their final performance will be Saturday 24 January 2026.

We have no troubles here. In here, life is beautiful.The<a href="https://www.londontheatre.co.uk/theatres/kit-kat-club"> Kit Kat Club</a> is the ultimate escape. After a difficult or even ordinary day, the fanfare, glitz, and glamour feel like a portal to another time, where you'll be greeted with complimentary schnapps, dancing chorus members, and a lascivious pre-show smorgasbord.&nbsp;From the gilded lobby, disco-lit basement, and everywhere in between, the space creates an all-encompassing atmosphere, right down to the aptly named cabaret tables, a design element director Sam Mendes also used in his 1993 production at the Donmar and later&nbsp;on Broadway, where it was revived in 2014.&nbsp;However, here, director Rebecca Frecknall levels up the concept, and maybe this time, the stakes are a little higher and a little more intense. Coupled with Tom Scutt's immersive design and Isabella Byrd's atmospheric lighting, this production feels like a world away from outside.&nbsp;Or does it really? The headlines feel eerily similar today as when Joe Masteroff, John Kander, and Fred Ebb wrote their iconic musical about an American writer and a struggling nightclub performer in 1920s Berlin, who find themselves torn between a struggle to survive in love and life amid the rising glare of Nazism. There are, in fact, many troubles here.&nbsp;And Frecknall doesn't pull any punches with her high-concept approach, which takes a cue from Christopher Isherwood's Goodbye to Berlin and John van Druten's 1951 play, on which the show is based. The approaching horror and absurdism of this escape is at the forefront, and her highly choreographed tableau feels like a ballet or a marionette show, where someone calculating is pulling all the strings.&nbsp;At the center of this circus stands the Emcee, played here with impish wackiness by Eddie Redmayne. Redmayne slithers around the stage, contorting his being every which way to almost distracting effect. Redmayne is not a commanding showman, as is a tempting take for the Emcee, but instead he uses gesture and sensuality to make the audience lean in. As the musical gets progressively darker, Redmayne's Emcee becomes more and more absurd, almost half American Horror Story: Freakshow and half Martha Graham dancer, and his final iteration is the most horrific.&nbsp;In contrast to Redmayne, Jessie Buckley is all bravado and belt. Her Sally Bowles is the ultimate starlet, taking a note or three from Liza Minelli's iconic film performance in the role, and she dominates the stage with effortless charisma and appeal. She's irresistible. Even in the quieter, heartbreaking moments, she conveys an emotional depth and density, and she nails the 11 o'clock title song. (While many may argue that Sally Bowles as a character is not supposed to be a good singer, neither this production nor Buckley respect that take.)This production highlights the ensemble nature of the show, featuring a chorus of extremely talented dancers, seemingly inventing new ways to move with Julia Cheng's choreography, and the supporting cast offers a deep emotional contrast to the more showy club scenes.&nbsp;As Fraulein Scheider and Herr Schultz, Liza Sadovy and Elliot Levey hold the beating heart of the piece and shatter it into pieces. Anna-Jane Casey stands out as Fraulein Kost, and Omari Douglas does his best naive fish-out-of-water as American writer Clifford Bradshaw.&nbsp;<a href="https://www.londontheatre.co.uk/show/23939-cabaret">Cabaret</a> feels like a story we need and also don't need right now. On the one hand, it's a glorious ode to escapism and forgetting the troubles that bind us. But some of the "troubles" we're going through right now aren't that far off from Jazz Age Berlin, with abortion legislation under fire in the United States and government oversight of Covid-19 brewing further division.&nbsp;And Frecknall's searing, haunting final stage portrait seems to imply that escapism only lasts so long. Sooner or later, if we don't face our troubles, our troubles will find us. The Kit Kat Club in London is a refurbished Playhouse Theatre. The Playhouse Theatre opened in 1882, and was originally called the Royal Avenue Theatre. After 23 years of production, the theatre was closed for refurbishment. Sadly, renovation works killed six people as the roof of Charing Cross railway station collapsed during the refurbishment.

The Playhouse Theatre then reopened in 1907. Early shows include plays by George Bernard Shaw, as well as performances from the [Almeida Theatre](https://www.londontheatre.co.uk/theatres/almeida-theatre). More recently, the Playhouse has been home to West End revivals including *An Inspector Calls*, *1984* and *La Cage Aux Folles*.

After a world premiere at the [Young Vic](https://www.londontheatre.co.uk/theatres/young-vic), *The Jungle* transferred to the Playhouse Theatre in 2018. To stage the production, the auditorium was redesigned to allow for audiences to sit on multiple sides of the stage.
