Everybody’s Talking About Jamie extends and to be adapted into film

Everybody's Talking About Jamie is set to be adapted for the big screen by the producers behind This Is England, and has also extended its run in the West End.

Warp Films will produce the movie version of the musical, which has music by Dan Gillespie Sells and  a book by Tom MacRae, and is due to commence filming in spring next year.

It will also now book at the Apollo Theatre until April 2019, and Everybody's Talking About Jamie tickets are available now.

Opening in the West End last year, the musical tells the story of Jamie New, a 16-year-old boy who decides he wants to wear a dress to his school prom. It is based a documentary about Jamie Campbell, which inspired director Jonathan Butterell to embark on the project.

The musical, which features songs like "And You Don't Even Know It", "He's My Boy" and "The Wall in My Head", opened in the West End in 2017 following an earlier run at Sheffield Theatres.

In LondonTheatre.co.uk's five-star review of the production, Mark Shenton said the show was "wonderful and remarkable", which is "profoundly moving and outright hilarious".

Everybody's Talking About Jamie is booking at the Apollo Theatre until 6th April 2019.
