The full casting has been announced for the 50th anniversary production of rock musical Hair, which runs at the Vaults from October.

Hair is the story of the "tribe" a political group of hippies living in New York protesting against the Vietnam War. It has music by Galt McDermot, lyrics and a book by James Rado and Gerome Ragni, and first opened Off-Broadway in 1967. It features the songs "Aquarius", "Let the Sun Shine In" and "Good Morning Star Shine."

The cast of the musical includes Shekina McFarlane (The Lion King) as Claude, Daniel Bailey (Motown the Musical) as his friend Berger and Natalie Green (Wicked) as roommate Sheila. The characters Claude and Berger were autobiographical, based on Rado and Ragni respectively.

They will be joined by Adam Dawson (West Side Story), Andy Coxon (Yank!), Patrick George (Cats), Jammy Kasongo (Beautiful), Jessie May (Rock of Ages), Laura Johnson (Grease), Robert Metson, Liam Ross-Mills (Les Miserables), Koryann Stevens (West Side Story) and Kirsten Wright.

Hair runs at The Vaults from 4th October to 13th January, with an official opening on 11th October. It has also been announced that a 'clothing optional' performance will take place on 11th November, where the audience will be invited to watch the show naked, if they so wish.

This production opened at the Hope Mill Theatre in Manchester last year, and will transform the London venue into an immersive, psychedelic Woodstock-esque experience with a special pop-up restaurant and themed drinks before the show starts.

It is directed by Jonathan O'Boyle who has acted as an assistant director on An American in Paris at the Dominion Theatre and directed The Scottsboro Boys at the Young Vic and in the West End.
