
'Hadestown' proshot with original Broadway cast confirms release plans
Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell's musical tells the story of two sets of lovers — Orpheus and Eurydice, and King Hades and Persephone — set against a Depression-era backdrop and fusing New Orleans jazz with American folk music.
The West End live capture of Hadestown, which features original cast members such as Reeve Carney and Eva Noblezada, will be released in the US in summer 2026, with UK plans still to be announced.
Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Anaïs Mitchell's musical tells the story of two sets of lovers — Orpheus and Eurydice, and King Hades and Persephone — set against a Depression-era backdrop and fusing New Orleans jazz with American folk music.
The original Broadway cast reunited in London for a limited season in 2025, and included André de Shields as Hermes, Noblezada as Eurydice, Carney as Orpheus, Amber Gray as Persephone, and Patrick Page as Hades.
The creative team also includes David Neumann (choreography), Rachel Hauck (scenic design), Michael Krass (costume design), Bradley King (lighting design), Nevin Steinberg and Jessica Paz (sound design), Liam Robinson (music supervision and vocal arrangements), Michael Chorney and Todd Sickafoose (arrangements and orchestrations), Ken Cerniglia (dramaturgy), and Tarek Merchant (musical director).
Hadestown will be released in North American cinemas on 24 July, with a UK date to follow.
