Get to know the new cast of 'Hadestown'

The latest eclectic quintet of principals, led by Nathan Sykes and Fayth Ifil, begin performances on 15 September 2026.

It will soon be time to bid farewell to the current principal cast of Hadestown in the West End as they embark on new adventures. Bethany Antonia (Eurydice) will be showing off her fanciest footwork on Strictly Come Dancing this autumn, and Clive Rowe (Hermes) is set to return to his spiritual home at the Hackney Empire for the Christmas panto as dame and director. However, an exciting new cast will shortly be “Livin’ it up on top” in Anaïs Mitchell’s enchanting mythological musical from 15 September.

It’s an eclectic mix of performers from different backgrounds. Nathan Sykes of the band The Wanted and Britain’s Got Talent alumna Fayth Ifil play the star-crossed lovers Orpheus and Eurydice. Opera star Danielle de Niese and TV actor Shaun Dooley co-star as Hades and Persephone. And West End veteran Malinda Parris completes the principal quintet as the latest female Hermes.

Nathan Sykes

Sykes plays Orpheus. After training at the Sylvia Young Theatre School, Sykes joined the band The Wanted at the age of 16. With Jay McGuiness, Max George, Siva Kaneswaran, and the late Tom Parker, the band released three albums and 15 singles. He has subsequently released two albums as a solo artist. Hadestown marks Sykes’s musical theatre debut.

Fayth Ifil

Ifil plays Eurydice. She rose to prominence at the age of 12 as a semi-finalist on Britain’s Got Talent in 2020. She has previously appeared in the West End in Tina: The Tina Turner Musical (as young Tina) and Just for One Day.

Danielle de Niese

De Niese plays Persephone. Born in Australia to Sri Lankan parents who later moved to the United States, de Niese is one of the leading sopranos of her generation, regularly performing at the world’s most prestigious opera houses. Her signature roles include Cleopatra in Giulio Cesare, Susanna in The Marriage of Figaro, and Hanna Glawari in The Merry Widow. Hadestown isn’t her first foray into musical theatre: she previously played Aldonza in The Man of La Mancha at the London Coliseum and Giulietta in Aspects of Love in the West End.

Shaun Dooley

Dooley plays Hades. He is best known for his television work, which includes Red Riding, Married Single Other, Great Expectations, Broadchurch, Mr Bates vs the Post Office, and Criminal Record. He is also known for his extensive voiceover work – a commanding voice is essential to playing Hades! Dooley most recently appeared on stage in The Hills of California. Hadestown is his first musical.

Malinda Parris

Parris plays Hermes. Parris’s numerous West End credits include Muse Calliope in Hercules, Mrs Phelps in Matilda, Mrs Corry in Mary Poppins, and Angelique in & Juliet. Earlier this year, she originated the part of “bearded lady” Lettie Lutz in Disney’s The Greatest Showman at the Bristol Hippodrome, and she will reprise the role in the West End in spring 2027.

Melanie Bright

Bright plays Fate. Her previous credits include Jesus Christ Superstar at the Barbican, The Wild Party at The Other Palace, and the UK tour of We Will Rock You.

Spike Maxwell

Maxwell plays Fate. A graduate of Bristol Old Vic Theatre School, Hadestown is their first professional show.

Lauran Rae

Rae plays Fate. She previously appeared in Get Up! Stand Up! The Bob Marley Musical, as well as Everybody’s Talking About Jamie in the West End and Jesus Christ Superstar at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.

Michelle Andrews

Andrews plays Worker. She has toured with Anton du Beke and Giovanni Pernice and in Anything Goes and Chicago. She appeared in the West End in Crazy for You and Top Hat, as well as performing at many of the UK’s leading regional venues.

Gabriela Benedetti

Benedetti plays Worker. Prior credits include Cabaret at the Kit Kat Club, the UK and Ireland Hamilton tour, and Legally Blonde at Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre.

Ollie Bingham

Bingham plays as Worker. He recently performed in the UK tours of Matilda and The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe.

Sebastian Lim-Seet

Lim-Seet plays worker. Hadestown marks his West End debut.

Juan Jackson

Jackson appears as a Swing. He has worked in Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore and was in the UK tour of Aladdin.

Oisín Nolan-Power

Nolan-Power appears as a Swing. He recently performed in the European tour of Fame.

Lindo Shinda

Shinda appears as a Swing. She appeared in the UK tour of 101 Dalmatians.

Jasmine Triadi

Triadi appears as a Swing. She performed in the UK tours of 101 Dalmatians and The King and I.

Milly Willows

Willows appears as a Swing. She won the Stephen Sondheim Society Performer of the Year Competition in 2023 and has been in the UK tour of SIX and Unfortunate: The Untold Story of Ursula the Sea Witch at Southwark Playhouse.
