‘Handbagged’ sets full cast at Kiln Theatre
Moira Buffini’s play returns to London.
Margaret Thatcher and Queen Elizabeth II come together for Handbagged at the Kiln Theatre. Moira Buffini’s Handbagged begins previews at the Kiln Theatre on 9 September, with an opening night on 15 September, and performances to 22 October. Book Handbagged tickets on London Theatre.
Handbagged sees Queen Elizabeth II and Margaret Thatcher go against one another and explore what would happen behind closed doors. Even though Thatcher and the Queen were born six months apart, they both changed the world in different directions. Handbagged premiered at the Kiln Theatre in 2013 and later transferred to the Vaudeville Theatre in 2014.
Marion Bailey reprises the role of ‘Q’, an Older Queen Elizabeth II and Kate Fahy reprises the role of ‘T’, an Older Margaret Thatcher. The full cast includes Abigail Cruttenden as Liz, Naomi Frederick as Mags, Romayne Andrews as Actor 1, and Richard Cant as Actor 2.
Indhu Rubasingham directs Handbagged. The show features design by Richard Kent, lighting design by Oliver Fenwick, and sound design by Carolyn Downing.
