We’ll get to know The King and I in the West End. The King and I will run at the Dominion Theatre in 2024, with performances from 20 January to 2 Mar. 2024.

The King and I follows Anna Leonowens, a British schoolteacher hired by the King of Siam to educate and modernise the country. During their time together, Anna and the King find themselves drawn to each other, even though they struggle to communicate.

The Rodgers and Hammerstein musical includes songs such as “Whistle a Happy Tune,” and “Shall We Dance?” Find out more about Rodgers and Hammerstein musicals.

Bartlett Sher directed the musical in 2015, starring Kelli O’Hara and Ken Watanabe. The pair then starred in the 2018 West End production, with a London Theatre review praising how “director Bartlett Sher treats it with reverence, while also trying to accentuate its relevance as a battle not just of the sexes but also of a clash of cultures.”

Helen George will play Anna Leonowens. The Call the Midwife actress and Strictly Come Dancing contestant features on the cast recording of Andrew Lloyd Webber’s Cinderella. Darren Lee will play the King of Siam, with a cast of over 50.

The King and I is at the Dominion Theatre.
