Initial casting announced for Shakespeare rock musical Knights of the Rose

Casting has been announced for the upcoming West End musical Knights of the Rose, a new rock musical directed by Racky Plews.

It tells the story of a group of noble Knights who must defend both their house and their honour as they return from a victory to an even greater threat against their kingdom. The text will take from the literature of Marlowe, Shakespeare and Chaucer

The production will be directed and choreographed by Racky Plews (who also directed Green Day musical American Idiot), and features songs from Bon Jovi, Muse, Meat Loaf and Bonnie Tyler (confirmed song list can be found below). The musical will run from on 29th June at the Arts Theatre, and tickets are available now.

Casting for the musical includes:

Adam Pearce (King Aethelstan)
Chris Cowley (Palamon),
Oliver Saville (Hugo),
Rebecca Bainbridge (Queen Matilda / Bess),
Rebekah Lowings (Isabel),
Matt Thorpe (Horatio),
Ruben Van keer (John),
Katie Birtill (Hannah)
and Bleu Woodward (Emily)
Ian Gareth-Jones, Kelly Hampson and Tom Bales make up the ensemble. 

The musical is created by Jennifer Marsden, and will be designed by Diego Pitrach.

Knights of the Rose is at the Arts Theatre from 29th June to 26th August.
